The company was founded in 2004 as a refurbishing company of existing power systems but has since grown to offer its own full and complete product line. The company's headquarters are located in North Mankato, MN, and it has a network of distributors strategically located in the U.S. and Canadian markets.
Early Years
Blue Star Power Systems was founded in 2004 by Doug Fahrforth (CFO) in his garage. His initial focus was on refurbishing used generator sets. Then in 2006, the company started selling and marketing its products to the agricultural community. In 2008, Bruce Prange (President) joined the company, bringing with him a wealth of experience in the power generation industry. The two men had a combined experience of over 30 years in the power generation industry, and they saw an opportunity to provide a better solution for customers who needed reliable and affordable power.
Blue Star was able to capitalize on the opportunity and began to develop its own line of generator sets. By building a strong team and developing a high-quality product line, the company quickly grew. As a result, in 2019, operations moved to a new facility in North Mankato, MN. Their innovative products and services gained a reputation in the industry, and Blue Star began to expand its product line and distribution network.
